Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead the operations of Storfjord. The successful candidate will have an extensive background in high-end hospitality and a proven track record of delivering exceptional guest experiences while driving operational excellence. This role requires strong leadership, business acumen, and a passion for curating unique experiences that reflect the character and ethos of the hotel. Understanding of high-end hospitality and service with a healthy culture and good structure for operations will be crucial.
The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s operations, including guest services, staff management, financial performance, marketing, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and service are consistently maintained. The General Manager role collaborates with the sales, marketing and HR department in 62NORD and work close together with the group’s CEO and COO. The role reports directly to the CEO of 62NORD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to ensure the hotel’s positioning as a top luxury destination, driving growth and maintaining the brand's reputation for excellence.
- Guest Experience: Ensure an exceptional guest experience by upholding the highest service standards, anticipating guest needs, and fostering a personalized, memorable stay.
- Operational Management: Setting the team up for success. Oversee all daily operations, including front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, wellness, and maintenance, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with company standards.
- Financial Oversight: Manage hotel budgets, forecast revenue, control costs, and ensure profitability by optimizing operational processes and enhancing service offerings.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment that empowers staff to deliver outstanding service. Implement development plans and ensure ongoing training and motivation.
- Sales & Marketing: Collaborate with the sales and marketing department to implement strategies that drive occupancy and increase revenue. Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and travel agents to enhance the hotel’s visibility and appeal.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Embrace sustainable practices, promoting eco-friendly initiatives in line with the mother company’s (The Flakk Group) commitment to preserving the surrounding nature, care for the local community and contribute to a better future.
- Crisis Management: Effectively manage any operational or guest-related issues that arise, demonstrating calm leadership and quick problem-solving to provide a high-end international service and hospitality level.
Qualifications
- Proven Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive management experience within high-end, luxury hotels, with significant exposure to international hospitality. Nordic experience is an advantage but not required.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage a diverse team. A hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and is not afraid to get involved and help where it is needed.
- Guest-Oriented: A passion for high-end service and hospitality with a meticulous eye for detail and a genuine dedication to exceeding guest expectations.
- Business Acumen: Strong financial management skills with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals and managing budgets effectively.
- Cultural Awareness: Sensitivity to different cultures and ability to cater to an international clientele, with a strong understanding of luxury travellers.
- Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is appreciated but not limited to.
- Problem Solving: A proactive problem-solver with excellent decision-making skills, capable of handling operational challenges with grace and precision.
- Marketing Insight: Experience in managing luxury hotel branding and marketing, with the ability to collaborate with PR and marketing teams to increase the hotel’s presence globally.
- Flexibility: The ability to work and cooperate with the hospitality group’s sister hotels; Union Øye and Brosundet, as well as work in a family-owned and oriented hospitality business.
