Job Description

The People & Culture Advisor works as part of the People & Culture Team to support the delivery of personalised five star service to our people and teams with a professional but warm and friendly approach that prides itself on great attention to detail. You’ll provide transactional and administrative support to the People Team to ensure accurate and proactive delivery of services to support the employment lifecycle, you will also be comfortable and experienced in advising on the more routine issues the team are involved in.

In this role, you’ll respond to any people's issues efficiently, seeking to create solutions to any issues as soon as possible. You’ll work closely with the Head of People & Culture and the Welfare & Engagement Coordinator to ensure that we have a happy, engaged team across Gilpin Hotel and Lake House.

A People & Culture Advisor

  • Acts as the first point of call for all internal and external People & Culture Team queries – manning the team phone and inboxes so ensure efficient responses in line with service expectations.
  • Responds to employee queries, and escalates and redirects issues as required to ensure accurate information is maintained and timely advice is provided.
  • Supports effective recruitment campaigns and assessment that puts the candidate at the heart whilst ensuring the right person is recruited.
  • Drafts contracts and letters, and manages contract end dates, probation review dates and following up with managers to confirm extensions.
  • Plans and supports delivery of onboarding and induction programmes.
  • Carries out development administration to plan, support, and deliver training and development to drive teams forward.
  • Supports the development and scheduling of a learning and development program to build employee capabilities in specific competencies.
  • Works with Heads of Departments to implement new processes with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring training is completed and updated, and progression attained.
  • Supports performance development through reviews and monitoring of completion reports.
  • Runs an efficient leavers’ process and exit.
  • Owns the administration of the HRM software system and acts as the main focus point for queries on this.
  • Owns the administration of the internal software systems in the People & Culture Team – setting up email addresses, log ons etc. and then supporting people to ensure effective use of these.
  • Supports culture and workplace activities, such as internal communications, staff engagement surveys, and staff events planning and delivery.
  • Prepares people metrics, in collaboration with the Head of People & Culture, to support data driven decision making.
  • Provides general support to wider business from time to time.

This role is ideal for someone that has some experience or interest in HR or people and culture and has the ability to balance compassion for individuals with decisions that support the wider mission and purpose.

Qualifications

  • Strong administration background – a true juggler.
  • Confident with all Google Business products (Gmail, GDrive and Google Docs) and Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently and as a team – and know where your skills need the support of others.
  • Strong at seeking input and building collaborative relationships across departments and teams.
  • Comfortable holding the line on policy and processes when needed.
  • Self-motivated and highly organised – proactive at updating on progress to deadlines.
  • Know when to ask for help.
  • Strive to bring out the best in your team, driving enthusiasm and passion.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Able to meet deadlines and prioritise workload.
  • Experience of working in learning & development, pay & reward, diversity & inclusion, HR policy or employee relations is desirable, but not essential.
  • Willingness to develop and be open completing HR qualifications such as CIPD or Mental Health First Aid.

Additional Information

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per year
