Lead Bartender

Primary Purpose of Position
In this role, you will be responsible for curating and serving craft and specialty beverage offerings, collaboration with Leadership on featured events, property functions, and support of the day-to-day operation of the Beverage team. Additionally, this position will support with recruitment and training of new employees.
Our bar team maintains both Forbes 5-star standards of service and Relais Chateaux expectations to ensure the best possible guest experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Working knowledge of wine, specialty cocktails, classic cocktails, mocktails and all available selections of beer, liquor and wine within the resort.
- Knowledge of seasonal and local ingredients to incorporate in cocktail offerings.
- Create a warm and welcoming environment for guests- following standards set by the property, Forbes and Relais Chateaux while ensuring quick and efficient service.
- Familiarity with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond accurately to any guest inquiry.
- Comprehensive understanding of state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.
- Maintain knowledge of table numbers, hours of operations, resort operations, menus, special events and guest preferences and/or allergies to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Ability to engage with guests on mechanics of bartending, concepts of cocktails and ingredients to stock within a home bar.
- Train bar team in accordance with Resort and 5 star standards
- Create guest engagement opportunities through classes, local vendor presentations, industry partnerships and wine programming.
- Adherence with all departmental policies and service procedures.
- Ensure cleanliness and condition of bar and service areas; ensuring any deficiencies are corrected.
- Collaboration with Events department to execute special programming and Ranch activities.
- Assist with wine, liquor and beer inventories, checklists and ordering guides.
Education/Experience
- Minimum 5-years of experience as a bartender.
- Preferred experience at a Forbes 5 Star Property
- Sommelier and/or Mixology Certification preferred.
- Certification in alcohol awareness program (RASS) required.
- Ability to effectively communicate with both Guests and Ranch associates.
- Flexibility in schedule, location and daily tasks is essential to be successful in position.
- Valid driver’s license.
