Description

Our bartenders are responsible for the ambiance of all our bar spaces and are sometimes the most interactive in the guests stay. This position demands a great personality and willingness to spend the time entertaining our guests in the Saloon late night. Take orders, prepare and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and serve meals to guests, courteously, enthusiastically, and efficiently according to established specifications. Work and engage in Forbes Five-Star standards each and every bar shift. Maintain stock/supplies and cleanliness of outlet equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete knowledge of characteristics and description of every wine by the glass and major wine on the wine list
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all specialty cocktail recipes along with classic cocktail recipes
  • Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for each drink
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, wines, beers and non-alcoholic selections available
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table numbers, room capacity, hours of operations, menus, and dress code of assigned outlet
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all departmental policies and service procedures
  • Check quality and amount of all bar stock and supplies by using checklist
  • Complete opening inventory sheet
  • Requisition all necessary supplies from manager
  • Transport supplies from storeroom to designated bars
  • Stock ice in bar
  • Stock glassware and paper supplies
  • Set up bar counter and bar area/tables
  • Wipe down bottles in display cabinet and speed rail
  • Prepare bowls of bar snacks
  • Inspect cleanliness and condition of bar and service areas; rectify any deficiencies
  • Prepare garnishes and mixes
  • Greet guests and take their orders
  • Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge guest even when busy
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond accurately to any guest inquiry
  • Remove soiled wares from bar top and tables to dishwashing area
  • Extend courteous departures when guests leave outlet
  • Direct and assist bar backs and cocktail servers in their job functions to ensure smooth and efficient service to guests
  • Clearly communicate last call at designated closing time to guests
  • Ensure maximum usage of all supplies to attain budgeted beverage cost and to prevent waste
  • Assist with weekly/monthly inventories
  • Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule
  • Legibly document maintenance needs on work orders and submit to manager
  • Have basic technical knowledge of Saloon and Theater entertainment equipment
  • Be outgoing and an excellent late night host

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
  • At least two years of experience as a bartender
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Previous training in liquor, wine and food service required
  • Certification in alcohol awareness program helpful
  • Computer training on POS system
  • Customer service training
