Job Description
Position Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for executing general ledger functions and accounting activities for Aspen One in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role reports directly to the Assistant Corporate Controller and works closely with the Corporate Controller and Accounting Manager to ensure financial accuracy, compliance with company policies, and consistency with Aspen One’s broader accounting standards and strategic objectives.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including reclass adjustments, accruals, prepaid expenses, and other required entries
- Perform detailed monthly review and reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts
- Partner with the Finance team on capital projects, including fixed asset setup at project completion
- Review monthly profit and loss financial statements; research and resolve discrepancies
- Provide accounting support to Aspen One managers and team members on transaction details, accounting issues, and discrepancies
- Present accounting analysis and issue resolution through data review and mathematical solutions
- Communicate effectively through clear and professional written correspondence, primarily via email
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, accounting or business focus preferred
- Five years accounting experience required
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Advanced Excel skills required (XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Power Queries, etc.)
- Extensive knowledge of software applications for point of sale system, word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise (JD Edwards) and Oracle NetSuite a plus
- Experience with (SAP) Concur software a plus
- Experience with Esker a plus
- Experience with RTP|ONE a plus
- Knowledge of financial statement preparation and month-end and year-end close processes
- Understanding of internal control structures and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of internal and external audit procedures
- Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide insight
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Capable of identifying complex accounting issues and determining appropriate solutions in challenging situations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and cross-functional collaboration
- Can work with minimal supervision, making sound decisions based on accounting principles
- Ability to handle sensitive financial data with discretion and integrity
- Flexibility to adjust to evolving business needs and regulatory updates
Additional Information
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements
- No adverse or hazardous conditions
- Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50 lbs.)
