Job Description

The Ski Patrol Basic is responsible for maintaining the ski area to provide a safe, efficient, well organized and enjoyable environment. This position reports to the Ski Patrol Director.

Essential Job Functions

· Patrol assigned work area while consistently greeting and engaging guests to promote a fun and friendly atmosphere

· Perform daily trail maintenance including but not limited to determining trail openings and closures, placing signage and marking obstacles

· Ensure that no guests remain on slopes or trails at end of day or during inclement weather

· Administer first aid, monitor and transport injured guests

· Learn skills to safely evacuate guests from disabled chairlifts

· Participate in avalanche mitigation and develop avalanche rescue skills

· Operate dispatch/communications systems using clear, concise language

· Pack snow on slopes

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required

· Current CPR certification required

· Minimum of Outdoor Emergency Care or Colorado EMT required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Proficient skier in all terrain and in all snow conditions

· Knowledge of guest service industry or ski resort industry

· Ability to maintain a working knowledge of the resort's weather conditions, snow reports, base area locations, and special events

· Ability to be flexible with your schedule and be willing to work weekends, holidays, long hours

· Ability to work in adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time

· Ability to possess a professional appearance at all times

· Ability to handle fast paced high-pressure environment

· Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure

· Attention to detail to ensure a smooth guest experience

· Excellent verbal communication skills

Additional Information

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, smell, taste, stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Regularly work in wet, hot and humid conditions for extended periods of time and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50lbs
