Job Description

The Caretaker will ensure all areas of the restaurant, inside and out, are clean, sanitary, safe and in good working condition. Housing is provided onsite. This position reports to the Restaurant General Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete physical and mechanical walk-through of building and notify arriving manager of any noticeable or outstanding problems
  • Winter specific duties include snow removal from decks and walkways to ensure safe and easy access for guests and staff, icicle removal from roof line and apply snowmelt where appropriate
  • Summer specific duties to include basic landscaping tasks, trash removal around the building, cleaning windows and floors, and replacing light bulbs and carpet as needed
  • Help the facilities or engineering team as needed with maintenance projects
  • Report to Manager or General Manager to check in and/or review priorities
  • Set ski or bike racks in proper location at beginning and end of day
  • Secure, open and close building
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas, sweep and mop back of house areas as directed
  • Manage food deliveries and supply cage at base area
  • Assist loading and driving the supply cat as directed, bringing food product up, and bringing trash down
  • Assist other drivers with loading unloading the supply cat if needed
  • Assist restaurant team in end of the day cleaning and closing procedures if needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience in a facility maintenance or landscaping position

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with company rules, regulations, and operational standards
  • Knowledgeable on all restaurant and building mechanical equipment
  • Skilled in effectively communicating both verbally and in writing with team members and guests in English
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to do basic problem-solving
  • Completes tasks and goals efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes in processes, customer flow, environments, and tasks
  • Ability to engage with customers in a positive and helpful manner
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to be a team player, working collaboratively with others
  • Ability to develop strong working relationship with those contacted in the course of work

Additional Information

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
