Job Description

Position Summary:

The Rental Technician is responsible for creating a warm, welcoming, and personalized rental experience that makes every guest feel valued and attended to. By expertly guiding guests through the selection and fitting of winter sports equipment and accessories, this role ensures every guest leaves confident, comfortable, and prepared for their day on the mountain. The Technician supports a seamless rental process by maintaining high service standards and contributing to smooth shop operations. This position reports to the Store Manager.

Essential Job Functions / Key Job Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming first impression by greeting guests warmly and making them feel truly valued and appreciated from the start
  • Expertly guide guests through personalized selection and fitting of winter sports equipment to ensure their comfort, confidence, and excitement for the day ahead
  • Collaborate seamlessly with teammates and leadership to anticipate guest needs and swiftly resolve concerns, delivering consistent, top-tier service throughout each visit
  • Maintain a spotless, inviting, and well-organized shop environment while actively managing inventory and gear to meet guest demand without delay
  • Continuously expand knowledge of rental and retail products to offer insightful recommendations that enhance the guest experience and support sales goals
  • Confidently and accurately operate point-of-sale and rental systems to ensure smooth, hassle-free transactions that respect the guest’s time
  • Apply meticulous attention to detail and rigorously follow all safety and risk management protocols to guarantee guest safety, satisfaction, and trust in Aspen Snowmass services
  • Skillfully perform waxing and equipment maintenance to provide guests with top-quality gear that enhances their mountain experience
  • Take initiative to keep shop operations running smoothly and efficiently to ensure guests encounter professionalism and warmth at every turn
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a rental shop or similar fast-paced, guest-focused environment preferred
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated excellence in customer service, ideally in a high-volume retail or hospitality setting, required
  • Completion of ski manufacturers' binding certification preferred or willingness to obtain

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of winter sports equipment, gear performance, and how to match products to guest needs
  • Familiarity with industry terminology and the ability to explain products in a clear, approachable way
  • Awareness of company policies, procedures, and service standards that support a safe and welcoming environment
  • Strong and adaptable communication skills with the ability to engage guests warmly and confidently across a range of situations
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized while maintaining focus on each individual guest interaction
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teammates to create a seamless and positive shop experience
  • Genuine enthusiasm for delivering exceptional service and anticipating guest needs before they arise
  • Ability to take initiative and solve problems independently while remaining aligned with team goals
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to upholding safety and quality standards in every aspect of the guest experience
  • Keen ability to notice and address small issues or feedback before they impact the guest’s day

Additional Information

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. Kneeling and bending may be required
  • Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions. Some positions require exposure to outdoor elements or a combination of both indoors and outdoors and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
