Job Description
Position Summary:
The Rental Cashier serves as a frontline guest service specialist, providing accurate, friendly, and efficient support during equipment rental, retail, lift ticket, and Ski & Snowboard School transactions. This role requires broad knowledge of resort-wide products and services to ensure each guest receives helpful, seamless guidance, and personalized support. By creating a welcoming environment and resolving issues with confidence and care, the Rental Cashier helps guests feel valued and ready for their day on the mountain. This position reports to the Store Manager.
Applications for this position will be accepted until October 1, 2025 for the 2025-26 Winter Season.
Job Functions
- Greet each guest with warmth and professionalism to create a welcoming first impression and set the tone for a positive rental experience
- Assess guest needs by asking thoughtful questions and guiding them through rental, retail, ticket, and lesson transactions with clarity and care
- Operate point-of-sale systems and Resort Technology Partners (RTP) software accurately to process sales, rentals, reservations, and guest data
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations on winter sports equipment, accessories, and retail items, highlighting features and benefits that align with guest needs
- Clearly explain pricing, package options, and resort services to help guests make informed purchasing decisions
- Process payments, issue receipts, provide refunds or credits, and ensure each transaction is smooth, respectful of the guest’s time, and error-free
- Maintain accurate cash handling and balance daily transactions with consistency and attention to detail
- Proactively resolve guest questions or concerns with empathy, urgency, and a commitment to turning challenges into positive experiences
- Stay informed about resort-wide services, products, and policies to confidently support guest inquiries and cross-departmental needs
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean, professional, and guest-ready front desk and workspace
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a cashiering, point-of-sale, or financial transaction role required
- At least 1 year of experience delivering customer service in a fast-paced retail or hospitality setting required
- Prior experience using rental, ticketing, or reservation software systems preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles, U.S. currency handling standards, and resort products and services
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS), reservation, and ticketing systems commonly used in retail or resort operations
- Understanding of how accurate, timely transactions and cross-selling opportunities enhance the guest experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel to support operational communication
- Spanish and Portuguese language skills helpful in serving a diverse, international guest population
- Skill in delivering clear, professional, and guest-focused communication in both calm and high-volume scenarios
- Ability to multitask and serve multiple guests efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to process payments, issue refunds, and balance cash drawers with consistency and care
- Talent for resolving guest concerns with empathy, urgency, and a focus on positive outcomes
- Commitment to following procedures, supporting team collaboration, and creating a warm, welcoming environment for all guests
Additional Information
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. Kneeling and bending may be required
- Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions. Some positions require exposure to outdoor elements or a combination of both indoors and outdoors and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
- Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
