Job Description

Summary

The retail lead associate helps the retail manager promote excellent teamwork, great customer service, enforcing loss theft prevention, and implementation of store and its appearance and presentation, and company policies and procedures. The Retail Lead is also vitally involved in maintaining fun, safe, energetic Aspen Snowmass ski/snowboard lifestyle ambiance in the retail store while making a life-long customer, not just a sale.

Essential Job Functions

  • Merchandise, display, front, and restock the retail space
  • Open and closing duties of the retail stores (ASPENX and The Little Nell Boutique)
  • Greets customers promptly and determines needs quickly
  • Develops solutions for customers by listening to their needs and recommending the appropriate products. Builds customer confidence and helps make selections; offering suggestions and recommendations for ski, snowboard and general winter sports merchandise
  • Possesses detailed knowledge of product benefits and features
  • Demonstrates product uses and operation and provides details about merchandise specifications, maintenance, care, delivery, and warranties
  • Answers questions about merchandise, the store, Aspen Skiing Company products and services and the resort
  • Keeps clientele informed by notifying them of sales and future merchandise of potential interest
  • Documents sale by creating or updating customer profile records
  • Utilizes the company’s POS system to process discounts and payments, administer exchanges and returns, provide change and receipts
  • Wraps or bags merchandise for customers
  • Obtains merchandise requested by customer or receives merchandise selected by customer
  • Counts and balances tills
  • Maintains a clean work environment through folding merchandise on the retail floor and stockrooms. Cleans dressing rooms of hangers and tags, and puts merchandise back in proper place after each use of the dressing room
  • Collaborates with other team members to keep the sales floor area clean and organized at all times
  • Cleans and stocks shelves, counters, fixtures or tables
  • Assists in maintaining the back stock room
  • Helps with opening and closing cleaning duties
  • Identifies and monitors security issues and notifies management. Helps prevent loss and theft of cash and inventory
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service in a luxury environment preferred
  • Merchandising skills required
  • Previous customer service or retail sales experience required
  • Knowledge of United States currency required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Written and speaking fluency in English required
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
  • Bi-lingual language skills (Spanish, Portuguese, French or others) preferred
  • For Alpine stores:
    • Prior retail selling experience and product knowledge of skis, boots, bindings and other ski hard goods equipment preferred
    • Boot fitting experience a plus
  • For Snowboard stores:
    • Prior retail selling experience and product knowledge of snowboards, boots, bindings and other snowboard hard goods equipment preferred

Additional Information

Supervision Given and Received:

Supervision given: Exercises direct supervision over Retail Associates. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, frequent and detailed review of work, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Supervision received: Works under direct supervision of the Store Manager. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time
  • Regularly work in adverse conditions and require protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.
