Job Description

The Childcare Supervisor is responsible for leading a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum and managing the day-to-day operational activities for Snow Cubs, a State of Colorado licensed large center for children ages 12 weeks through 3 years. This position is responsible for administrating all licensing and State Health requirements, including maintaining staff files. The Supervisor leads and supports childcare staff, Pros and supervisor peers to deliver exceptional guest service and operational excellence.

*This is a 6 month winter seasonal role based at the Treehouse Kids Adventure Center.

*The budgeted salary range for this position is $62,000 - $68,200. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions

  • Plan and implement an early childhood program that provides a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 12 weeks through 3 years, including employee day-care, drop-in childcare and overseeing a ski program for two-year olds
  • Organize and prioritize operational requirements based on Colorado State Licensing requirements for large centers, including parent and staff manuals
  • Maintain licensed staff files to ensure all staff training is up to date and meets the CDHS requirements to maintain State Licensing
  • Manage daily administration of the center, including scheduling staff, classroom supervision, time keeping, and performing facilities/ maintenance checks
  • Support business growth, guest experience, and expense management through scheduling and staffing
  • Promote excellence in guest service, evaluate experiences, resolve guest concerns when they arise
  • Actively observe guest experience and staff performance at key times of each day
  • Be present, available, and engaged with staff and guests, on hill and in the classroom in a supportive leadership capacity
  • Ensure that essential information is communicated frequently and accurately
  • Collaborate with other departments to execute operations and expand product knowledge and understanding as needed
  • Understand, communicate, and support a culture of risk management and child safety
  • Participate and take a leadership role in employee recognition, disciplinary action and performance management
  • Conduct thorough end-of-season analysis of individual and departmental strengths and opportunities in support of the off-season evaluation and planning cycle

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 seasons in the Childcare industry preferred
  • College degree required
  • Must meet one of the following criteria
    • Director-qualified per Colorado Department of Social Services guidelines.
    • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 9 credits including Introduction to Early Childhood Professions (Introduction to Early Childhood Education Lab Techniques (EC102) Early Childhood Guidance Strategies for Children (ECE 103) OR Pyramid Plus Approach Training; Early Childhood Nutrition, Health, and Safety (ECE 205);Administration of Early Childhood Care and Education Programs (ECE 240);Administration: Human Relations for Early Childhood Professions (ECE 240) or Introduction to Business; Early Childhood Curriculum Development (ECE 220); Early Childhood Growth and Development (ECE 238);The Exceptional Child (ECE 260); AND Infant/toddler Theory and Practice (ECE 111) OR Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Care Training
    • Masters in Early Childhood Education with specialty classes listed above.
  • Strong computer skills including Point of Sale software, scheduling software, email, Microsoft products and other computer programs required
  • Past childcare supervisory experience required

Supervision Given and Received

Supervision given: Exercises general supervision over Child Care Attendants. Assigns a variety of routine tasks, sets general expectations of results expected within company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Supervision received: Works under general supervision of Director of Children’s Programs. Receives continuing or individual assignments according to supervisor’s directions and may perform routine tasks. Expectations of the quality, quantity and deadlines are clearly set. Instructions, advice and assistance available as needed. Work is reviewed on demand or during scheduled check-ins.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand or be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time
  • Regularly work in adverse conditions and required to use protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials as well as an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
