Overview

The Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will be part of the leadership team responsible for the Osprey Meadows Golf Course at Tamarack Resort. The course is in the final stages of a 5 million dollar rebuild with architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for all aspects of daily maintenance and set-up of the golf course, weekly cultural practices, fertilizer application and calibration, irrigation problem-solving and repair, and leading/assisting with short- and long-term golf course projects. Responsibilities will include developing daily work schedules, coordinating related activities and equipment with the staff, training, overseeing, and assisting the staff, reviewing the work on the course, and supervising construction projects and specific maintenance activities.

The selected candidate will work closely with the Director of Agronomy to continue to make Osprey Meadows a championship level golf course.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the team in delegating and assigning daily assignments, providing guidance, training, coaching and assistance and ensuring work is completed as expected and on time
  • Collaborating with the Superintendent in developing the agronomic plan and budget for the course and leading in the implementation and oversight of the agronomic plan and budget
  • Identifying, evaluating, and recommending corrective action for agronomic problem areas, including funguses, pests, and drainage issues
  • Leading, overseeing, and assisting in the daily set-up and maintenance of the golf course, including routine maintenance, chemical applications, and equipment operations
  • Inspect irrigation systems, identify issues, and implement corrective action
  • Recommending, evaluating, planning, and leading long-term and short-term projects related to renovations, repairs, and care and maintenance of the course
  • Assist in training new and existing staff in golf course set-up and maintenance, equipment operations, safety procedures, and the club's expectations
  • Educating and ensuring the team is aware of and follows safe work practices and ensuring maintenance facilities and equipment are safe, clean, and organized
  • Winter responsibilities of snow removal and Nordic trail grooming

Qualifications

Qualifications (Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge):

  • A comprehensive knowledge of turf and golf course maintenance
  • Experience in leading teams
  • The ability to operate basic landscape equipment
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems and repair
  • An active Pesticide Applicator License for the state of Idaho or ability to obtain one
  • A Certificate, Associate's, or Bachelor’s Degree in Turf Management or related experience

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
  • Requires use of various fertilizers and chemicals associated with Golf Course Maintenance
  • Includes lifting, pushing, and/or pulling up to 80 pounds
  • Requires walking in excess of 5 miles a day
