Summary

The Spa Director is responsible for the overall vision of the Spa and Fitness Center ensuring the highest level of guest service and satisfaction. The Spa Director ensures the Spa is on the leading edge by researching new and innovative ideas. With a focus on motivation and development of staff, the Spa Director leads the team to the best of their capabilities and beyond. The Spa Director drives the financial results of the department by controlling expenses and treatment revenues. This position requires a high degree of initiative, exceptional leadership capabilities, clear and concise communication, and strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of daily operations and the Company Values of Old Edwards. Commitment to and demonstration of our Culture Vision, Values, and Goals
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with the Spa and other departments
  • Be professional, friendly, courteous, and helpful to all members, guests and co-workers
  • Assume ultimate responsibility for guest satisfaction and resolving any complaints
  • Monitor the level of service provided by the Spa daily by reviewing guest comment cards and TripAdvisor reviews; always striving to make improvements through investigation, analysis, coaching and/or corrective action
  • Develop line staff, supervisors, and managers by delegating tasks and empowering and coaching them to achieve desired results. Boost morale and maintain productivity within the Spa and Fitness team
  • Ensure the Spa is on the cutting edge by researching new and innovating ideas
  • Research and order retail products which support the vision of the Spa
  • Oversee the Boutique and Fitness Center merchandising
  • Create all Spa and Fitness Center services, packages, and promotions
  • Participate in all Spa and Fitness Center activities including staff meetings, educational events, workshops, and promotions
  • Document and report all accidents and incidents that occur in the Spa and Fitness Center
  • Submit work orders on equipment malfunctions and safety hazards. Follow up with work orders ensuring their completion in a timely manner
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of SpaSoft reservation software
  • Follow proper cash handling and billing procedures
  • Set all Spa and Fitness Center discount and promotional policies
  • Conduct performance reviews for the Assistant Spa Director and Spa Operations Manager
  • Review payroll on a bi-weekly basis
  • Approve all Professional and Retail Orders
  • Prepare the departmental budget and put measures in place to achieve or exceed the budgeted profit
  • Spa and Fitness Director is responsible to coach, promote, transfer, counsel or discipline subordinate employees or recommend such actions
  • Director Reports Include: Assistant Spa Director, Spa Operations Manager, Fitness Manager, and Elements Manager
  • Due to the nature of this position, confidentiality is required at all
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the General Manager or President and Managing Director

Qualifications

Requirements

  • 5+ years Spa management experience, High school diploma/GED required, 4 year degree preferred, current and valid driver’s license, computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe), as well as property management systems, basic knowledge of accounting and budgeting parameters, organizational and time management skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is required.
  • Must be bright, personable and along with others. Should be highly service oriented, possess exemplary telephone skills and be well organized and self-motivated. Should be able to understand the Old Edwards objectives and have the potential to achieve employee and departmental goals. Must be able to lead multiple individuals with various backgrounds and skill sets.
  • Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time, life and/or move up to 25 pounds on a regular basis, and as much as 40 pounds with less frequency, as well as walk on a regular basis, talk, see and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to kneel, crouch or bend.
