During a typical week as a Hersheypark Leadership Development Intern, you work as a Hersheypark Team Leader, receive on-the-job leadership experience, and will participate in Professional Development designed to provide continuous learning and development.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

  • Leading and supervising part-time staff and assisting in overseeing daily operations.

  • Perform day-to-day operational job duties as needed.

  • Acting as a liaison to department management; observe and report on all issues or concerns that arise day to day. Provide feedback to management so they can implement solutions.

  • Training employees to ensure that they are capable of interacting appropriately with guests and that they have the information needed to answer questions.

  • Placing employees for their location at appropriate positions and ensuring that employees have the proper breaks, supplies and other operational items needed throughout their shifts.

  • Ensuring strict adherence to Child Labor Laws and reporting any potential violations to their direct Supervisors.

  • Maintaining guest service and hospitality standards through interaction with guests and monitoring employees. Ensuring proper execution of all service standards set by management. Responding to guest questions and directing them to the appropriate source of information.

  • Providing recommendations regarding disciplinary action and participation in coaching employees.

  • Monitoring and enforcing health, safety, and sanitation standards

  • Participate in a Professional Development Series, including completing projects and attending events for continuous learning and development.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • This internship is open to college students and recent graduates

  • Must meet one of the following criteria:

    • Completed HP Leadership Development Level 1 Program

    • Worked a minimum of one season experience as a red tag (Asst Team Leader) at the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex

    • Completed a minimum of one internship/work experience in the amusement, entertainment, customer service or hospitality industry, which must have been in a supervisory role

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Company coordinated housing is available to students residing outside of 50 miles to Hersheypark

  • Friendly, upbeat, and enthusiastic

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively

  • Abide by Hersheypark appearance standards

  • Certain positions will be required to complete pre-employment drug testing

  • Ability to obtain department required certifications, including but not limited to; Ellis & Associates lifeguard certification, RAMP certification, ServSafe, etc. based on department placement.

  • Ability to multitask in fast paced environment

  • Must be able to work a minimum of five (5) days and at least 40 hours per week during May, June, July and August

Job Demands:

  • The working conditions include indoor and/or outdoor environments with the potential to work in various weather conditions

  • Physical requirements include standing (for periods up to at least 8 hours at a time), walking (including up and down stairs), bending and repeated lifting (up to 20 pounds without assistance)

  • Must be able to work a minimum of five (5) closing shifts and at least 40 hours per week during May, June, July and August
