Eleven Madison Park is a plant-based fine dining restaurant overlooking Madison Square Park in New York City. First opened in 1998 as a French brasserie, the restaurant has been headed by Chef Daniel Humm since 2006 and owned by his company Make it Nice Hospitality since 2011. Eleven Madison Park has evolved significantly under his leadership both in food and in experience, earning several accolades including 4 stars from the New York Times and 3 stars from the Michelin Guide.

In 2021, Eleven Madison Park reopened its doors post-pandemic as a completely plant-based restaurant. Reports to: Chef de Cuisine

Summary of Position:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for supervising the daily activities of the purchasing function. They maintain relationships with vendors or suppliers as well as review purchase orders for accuracy and to make sure the best prices are obtained. The Purchasing Manager evaluates and analyzes purchasing trends and price trends to identify forecasting demands and minimize purchasing costs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the ordering of food, materials, supplies, and equipment from vendors this may include travelling to to various outlets to ensure product is in-house
  • Perform weekly market runs to secure the highest quality product
  • Maintains organization of kitchen storage areas including dry storage, walk-in refridgerator and produce cooler
  • Work with kitchen management staff to ensure that all DOH standards are adhered to and maintained
  • Approve purchases and track their progress to make sure orders are filled and delivered correctly
  • Review invoices for accuracy and to make sure the best prices are obtained
  • Monitor vendors for quality, timeliness, and price variance
  • Maintain internal database of approved vendors
  • Maintain updated records of purchased products and invoices
  • Perform inventory counts and audits on a weekly/ monthly basis
  • Code invoices properly for accounting team to process payment in a timely manner
  • Assist with maintaining inventory management and purchase order systems
  • Cost dishes to accurately manage food cost
  • Coordinate with Facilities Manager to ensure all equipment is functioning at all times

Qualification Standards:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Basic math skills
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to troubleshoot proactively and creatively to meet team needs
    • Ablity to stand for long periods and lift 50 lbs
    • Hospitality background preferred
    • M-F with some weekends required
